Alice White: Zen and the Art of Enjoying Wine
Popular Australian Import Coming to Now & Zen Fest on September 22

September 10, 2002 - CONCORD, Calif.—Music lovers attending Alice@97.3's Now & Zen Fest have grown accustomed to the unusual and eclectic, from henna body art and massages to the Mount Zen Climbing Wall. But a kangaroo serving Shiraz? This year, it could happen.

Now & Zen is set for Sunday, Sept. 22, at Sharon Meadow in San Francisco's Golden Gate Park, with the Wallflowers, Train, india.aire and Aimee Mann appearing. And this year, Alice White wines will join with Alice radio to bring some Australian vinous virtue to the crowd.

As official Now & Zen wine sponsor, Alice White wines will be available for purchase by concertgoers eager to meditate upon the fresh, lively taste of one of the country's most popular Australian imports. "When the mind is ready, a teacher appears," said Tim Peters, Alice White brand manager. "There may be wisdom in emptiness, but we at Alice White prefer a full glass."

Americans have fallen in love with Australian imports and Alice White is one of the most successful wines in the fast-growing category. The Alice White portfolio includes critically acclaimed and consistent best-buy choices such as Chardonnay, Shiraz, Merlot, Cabernet Sauvignon, a Cab-Shiraz blend, and a Semillon-Chardonnay blend.

In addition to its reputation for unmatched quality and value (suggested retail price: $8), Alice White is known for its distinctive marketing: Its labels are done in bold, eye-catching colors and each new vintage brings another installment in the unfolding story of Alice, a karma-toting British newcomer to 19th-century Australia.

And, of course, there's an Alice White kangaroo mascot, which is scheduled to appear at Now & Zen. (It's really a person in a 'roo suit, but after several hours of calm abiding, you can't tell the difference.)
