Almaden Box Wine Innovates with Flavor Additions and New Package Design; Demonstrates Leadership in the Box Wine Segment
CONCORD, Calif.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Jan. 16, 2003--As a leader in the box wine category, Almaden Vineyards unveiled new flavor concepts this month with the introduction of Red and White Sangria. The wines were introduced in a new package with high impact vibrant colors and festive theme that sets it apart from the traditional image of the segment. The new design is an effort by Almaden to extend its reach to new consumers.
"Almaden is taking the box wine category in a new direction with two new flavors and a fun, energetic and vibrant design," said Diana Pawlik, Almaden brand manager. "The new positioning will broaden our consumer base while still appealing to our core users."
The box design with its bright colors, festive look and energetic appeal is consumer friendly and designed to enhance user experience. The new box has maintained traditional functional design elements such as the Easy Carry handle, Last Drop Tilt Tab to ensure efficient dispensing and an easy to use Twist 'n Serve(R) spout in vibrant citrus colors of lime green, orange and yellow for the new flavors.
With Almaden's history of innovation, the new design and flavor additions should come as no surprise to consumers and trade. "We are always searching for new ways to reach consumers and enhance user experience," said Pawlik. "Our latest approach is consistent with Almaden's innovative history and will take the box wine segment to a new level."
With the release of the Red and White Sangria, the Almaden Box portfolio introduces a new flavor profile to consumers. The White Sangria offers a tropical twist on the traditional, blending delicious white wine with exotic fruit flavors and the Red Sangria is a deliciously smooth red wine livened up with citrus and berry flavors for a lighter version of the classic Sangria.
Positive response to the Red and White Sangria in consumer groups earlier this year was exceptionally encouraging. "We had incredible consumer response to the new flavors and fresh approach to packaging," said Pawlik. "Consumers felt the twist on the traditional flavor profile and exciting graphics was innovative and exceeded their expectations."
Tucker Design, a leading advertising and design firm in Adelaide, Australia was hired to develop the package's vibrant new look for Almaden Vineyards. Led by principal/owner Barry Tucker, the design team took the Almaden creative challenge to a new level.
"We knew the challenge was to create a unique Almaden package that would attract new users while still appealing to its core consumers," said Tucker. "Our finished product does just that. A unique, vibrant style that fits well with the Almaden portfolio."
Available on retail shelves nationwide in January, Almaden Red and White Sangria will be priced on average at $12.99 for the 5.0L box and will see strong merchandising support.
