Have You Seen The Covey Run Quails?
Covey Run Winery’s Namesake Quails Make Inaugural Appearance at Bite of Seattle

WOODINVILLE, Wash., July 11, 2002 – Visitors to the QFC Bite of Seattle festival July 19 to 21 at Seattle Center are sure to see the larger-than-life size costumed Covey Run Winery quails, Murray and Maude, which will make their inaugural appearance outside The Bite Cooks! pavilion sponsored by Covey Run and Millstone Coffee.

“For twenty years, Covey Run has been producing award-winning fine wines that demonstrate Washington state’s unique characteristics,” said Covey Run Winemaker Kerry Norton.  “But what’s different about us is that we don’t take ourselves too seriously.  We love sharing our wines and our sense of humor with our customers.  We hope festival goers will stop by the new Bite Cooks pavilion to taste our wines and to meet the Covey Run quails.”

The Bite Cooks! presented by Covey Run Winery and Millstone Coffee, a new attraction to the Bite of Seattle, will feature top chefs from around Seattle giving live cooking demonstrations and pairing the food with Covey Run wines.  Comedian Chris Alpine will host this culinary explosion of celebrity chefs where consumers will experience the art of cooking fine food and pairing those dishes with fine wine and fine coffee.  Located in the Alki Room, just north of Key Arena, The Bite Cooks! offers the public a chance to see this elite group of Seattle-area chefs in action.

The Covey Run quails will be in front of the Snoqualmie Room (Wine Tasting Pavilion) where Covey Run wines will be poured and the Alki Room (The Bite Cooks!) on Friday, July 19 from 12-5pm, Saturday, July 20 from 12-6pm and Sunday, July 21 from 12-5pm.  Covey Run wines will also be available in each beer garden at the festival.  After making their inaugural appearance at the Bite of Seattle, these feathery friends will be attending consumer and wine trade events across the country.

Over its 20-year history, Covey Run has established itself as a leading Washington state brand by consistently producing outstanding varietal wines with a distinct Washington character.  After Covey Run introduced its first vintage in 1982, critics and consumers quickly recognized the fine quality of the wines, honoring them with popularity, acclaim and awards.  More information about this popular Washington state brand, the wines and its witty namesake quails can be found at www.coveyrun.com.
