Canandaigua Wine Appoints Director of California Sales 
New Position Expands Company's Sales Presence in California and Hawaii

Canandaigua, NY (August 22, 2002) -- Canandaigua Wine, a division of Constellation Brands, Inc., announces the creation of a new Sales position, Director of California Sales, which is being filled by Andy Halpern. Halpern's appointment to this newly created position, which focuses on the California marketplace and Hawaii, expands and strengthens the Company's Western Sales Division in these key states.

Halpern, who reports to Rob Buono, Vice President of the Western Sales Division, is responsible for sales planning, statewide pricing and execution across all selling channels in California and Hawaii. He will work closely with Southern Wine and Spirits in both states. In this new position, Halpern leads a team of more than 30 sales and regional marketing employees, including Regional Managers, Area Managers and District Managers.

Halpern has more than 20 years of wine and beverage industry experience. Most recently, he served as General Manager of Seagram America in California, leading a team of more than 30 sales and regional marketing employees. Prior to this role, he was responsible for Seagram's sales organization in North Carolina, South Carolina, Louisiana, Texas and Tennessee. Besides his professional experience, Halpern has a bachelor's degree from the University of Florida in Gainesville.
