Inglenook Vineyards Teams Up With Colony Liquor & Wine
to Fund Breast Cancer Research

CONCORD, Calif., Sept. 26, 2002 – Inglenook Vineyards is teaming up with distributor Colony Liquor & Wine, of upstate New York, to support National Breast Cancer Awareness Month in October.  Inglenook and Colony plan to donate a portion of their local sales in October – up to a combined total of $5,000 – to the Ann Marie Gutowski Fund for Breast Cancer Research.

“The Ann Marie Gutowski Fund is truly dedicated to making a difference in this community, and Inglenook is proud to partner with them to help find a cure for breast cancer,” said Diana Pawlik, brand manager for Inglenook.  “Our commitment is driven by our desire to give back to the communities we do business in.  We hope local residents will join us in this important effort.”

In this, the second year of Inglenook's national campaign to raise money for breast cancer research, New York state retailers will be participating in the Breast Cancer Awareness program through special in-store displays.  Consumers interested in supporting the effort can purchase Inglenook wines during the month of October.  A portion of the proceeds from each bottle of wine sold locally will be donated to the Ann Marie Gutowski Fund for Breast Cancer Research.

Inglenook Vineyards will also be participating in breast cancer awareness events across the country throughout the month of October, and will donate a portion of the month’s national sales to the American Association for Cancer Research (AACR).  These funds, called the Inglenook Awards, will be used to enhance the education of up to 20 top early-career scientists in the field.  The AACR is the world’s oldest scientific organization dedicated to preventing and curing cancer.

Recent studies show that breast cancer is the leading form of cancer in women, and one in eight women will develop the disease during her lifetime.  With its large number of consumers, Inglenook – a Canandaigua Wine Company brand that sells nearly 5 million cases of wine each year – hopes to raise public awareness of the disease and support a cure.
